This individual will be responsible for the prevention of occupational injuries and illness through effective health and safety programs to support a culture that promotes health and safety in all aspects of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental regulations
- Promote safety in the workplace.
- Act as the main point of contact for communication with the Ministry of Labour and Ministry of the Environment.
- Determine the EH&S training requirements and develop training programs
- Develop programs to assess the effectiveness of training and employee compliance
- Update and maintain Health and Safety and Environmental policies
- Participate and provide support and resources for accident
- Manage and track accident rates and developing effective accident investigation techniques
- Co-chair the JHSC Committee
Requirements:
- Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Engineering is preferred
- Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (CRSP) designation is an asset
- Certified ISO14001 internal auditor is an asset
- 10+ years’ experience in occupational safety, and industrial hygiene
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Effective problem solving skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Effective communication skills; written and verbal
