Responsibilities
Tactical
- Participate in the development and execution of project-specific HSE Safe Work Execution Plans and Project Safety Plans.
- Represent the organization in customer calls, kick-off meetings, and related engagements.
- Manage and facilitate the implementation of HSE programs and processes across multiple facilities and a distributed field services workforce.
- Support tactical planning and execution of corporate HSE initiatives.
- Lead regional and service center HSE performance objectives and targets.
- Conduct HSE inspections and audits, preparing detailed reports for each location.
- Coordinate and facilitate regulatory agency visits and inspections.
- Manage emergency response incidents and investigations across the Americas region.
- Oversee and maintain compliance with DOT programs.
- Manage external HSE qualification databases such as ISNet and related platforms.
- Conduct and lead HSE-related training initiatives.
- Liaise with functional leaders, management, and site supervision teams.
- Develop and manage budgets related to HSE activities and initiatives.
- Implement corrective actions and develop business cases where required.
- Lead the regional HSE committee.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs in partnership with HR.
- Continuously evaluate and refine operational and recruitment processes to improve efficiency, compliance, and workforce quality.
Strategic
- Analyze HSE and operational requirements and recommend appropriate HSE resources across Canada, the United States, and Brazil.
- Design and implement HSE programs and procedures aligned with ISO and OHS/OHSAS standards.
- Audit and evaluate HSE programs and processes, issue recommendations, implement improvements, and monitor outcomes.
- Collaborate with senior leadership across multiple functions to drive HSE strategy and continuous improvement.
- Support and participate in organization-wide HSE initiatives, programs, and compliance activities.
Relationships & Communication
- Reports to regional leadership while operating with a high degree of autonomy.
- Partners with regional managers and leadership teams to identify and resolve HSE issues, share best practices, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Coach and support HSE employee involvement teams throughout the Americas region.
Customer Orientation
- Collaborate proactively with internal and external stakeholders to understand HSE requirements, identify risks, resolve issues, and share best practices.
- Respond to customer requests related to HSE compliance, certifications, and reporting requirements.
- Represent the organization within relevant HSE professional organizations, industry groups, and governmental agencies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience designing and implementing HSE programs and procedures in accordance with ISO and OHS/OHSAS standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to use data and metrics to support strategic decision-making.
- Demonstrated success auditing and evaluating HSE programs, implementing improvements, and monitoring outcomes.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving operational environments while managing competing priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations effectively.
- Strong understanding of OHS/OHSAS regulations, industrial hygiene, and safety compliance standards.
- Collaborative, self-motivated, and capable of influencing teams across all organizational levels.
- Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and organizational leadership skills.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of eight (8) years of HSE experience within manufacturing and field services environments, including at least five (5) years within the oil and gas industry.
- Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally within the region.
- Valid passport required or ability to obtain one within one month of hire.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Safety, Safety Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- CRSP certification required.
