What could you do in this role?
- Review environmental impact statements for proposed municipal, industrial and mining operations and provide technical review comments
- Review applications and prepare approvals for the construction and operation of all components of municipal, industrial and mining operations
- Review and comment on document submissions from municipal, industrial and mining operations including those for the management of environmentally impacted sites
- Perform environmental inspections to ensure compliance with provincial legislation
- Investigate spills of hazardous substances and waste dangerous goods, and approve clean up and remediation at assigned facilities
- Develop the province’s environmental policies and regulations regarding municipal , industrial and mining operations and their inherit environmental concerns
- Respond to public inquiries and complaints

Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position can be achieved through a degree in engineering or science, combined with related environmental work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
You should also possess knowledge of municipal, industrial and mining operations as well as environmental issues and environmental protection and public health processes, including treatment and storage of hazardous materials, spill response, air emissions, waste management, and decommissioning and reclamation of environmentally impacted areas. Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, agreements, policies, guidelines, principles and processes relevant to environmental protection is also required.
