EHS Advisor

Introduction
Brunel is currently seeking an experienced EHS Advisor to support operations at a key facility in Sundre, Alberta. This role will play a critical part in maintaining a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards across all site activities.
The successful candidate will provide day-to-day environmental, health, and safety support, driving continuous improvement initiatives and reinforcing safe work practices across the site. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of site-level Health & Safety Management and Emergency Response Programs within a dynamic operational environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day EHS support to operations and field teams
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial (Alberta OHS), and company safety requirements
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
- Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Support WCB claims management and return-to-work programs
- Deliver safety orientations, training sessions, and toolbox talks
- Maintain and update EHS documentation, procedures, and reporting systems
- Monitor leading and lagging safety indicators and report on performance
- Participate in risk assessments including JHAs, FLRAs, and HAZIDs
- Support emergency response planning, drills, and site readiness
- Engage with workers and supervisors to reinforce safe work practices and behaviors
- Own and manage the site-level Health & Safety Management System (HSM)
- Oversee and maintain the Emergency Response Program (ERP)
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
- 3–7+ years of EHS experience within midstream, oil & gas, or industrial environments
- Strong knowledge of Alberta OHS legislation and industry standards
- Experience with incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Familiarity with WCB processes and claims management
- Professional designation such as CRSP or NCSO is considered an asset
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to site locations
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to promote a safety-first mindset
- Proven organizational and reporting capability, with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in both field and office environments
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
- Coaching mindset with the ability to engage and influence teams on safe work practices
