About the Role:
As a member of Madrone’s Biology practice, you will play a key role in supporting and expanding our work across the Lower Mainland and throughout British Columbia. Based in the Lower Mainland and working in a fully remote capacity, you will contribute to both field and office-based projects, providing permitting and regulatory support, conducting environmental and biological assessments, and supporting multidisciplinary project delivery.
This role requires a high level of independence, professionalism, and collaboration within a distributed team environment. You will help strengthen our Lower Mainland presence while contributing to biology projects across the province.
Qualifications:
- Have a Master’s degree in environmental biological sciences or equivalent.
- Are a Professional Biologist (R.P.Bio.) or equivalent with registration in good standing, or eligible for immediate registration in the Province of British Columbia.

Working knowledge of applicable provincial and federal environmental regulations.

- Data driven permitting and regulatory support services.
- Providing advisory guidance to staff on completion of environmental assessments for various sectors of clients.
- Leading specific tasks and objectives related to field supervision/advisement of external 3rd party contractors.
- Developing and managing strong relationships with new and existing clients.
- Ensuring appropriate Quality Management on all projects.
- Participating in multi-disciplinary project and guiding and coaching others.
- Contributing to the overall strategic development of the Biology group, including growth, profitability and supporting the development of new processes, services, geographies and client sectors.
- Conduct Business Development on behalf of the company.
Specialized Experience:
- Knowledge and understanding of environmental assessments related to wildlife biology, habitat ecology, fisheries, or restoration ecology. Practical experience with Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM) or the implementation of the Riparian Areas Regulations (RAPR), including the application of Provincial and Municipal bylaws is an asset.
- Have a knowledge, understanding and demonstrated application of permitting under the Species at Risk Act; Wildlife Act; Migratory Birds Convention Act; Fisheries Act; and Water Sustainability Act.
Professional Skills and Contributions:
- Excels with technical writing and have developed Qualified Professional reports.
- Experience writing project proposals (Letters of Engagement, Request for Proposals/Quotes) and developing budgets.
- Experience providing Qualified Professional opinions at municipal or provincial committees or councils is considered beneficial.
- Project management duties including cost tracking, invoicing, and working with deliverable deadlines.
Collaboration and Industry Relationships:
- Experience working within the Biology industry in BC considered beneficial.
Compensation & Additional Perks:
- Wage: $80,400 to $98,400.
