Position Overview:
Torus Talent is currently recruiting for an Environmental Coordinator to join the team of a confidential client for a large-scale construction project. Reporting to the Senior Environmental Lead, this role will support environmental and regulatory planning activities related to construction. The position will involve working closely with environmental and construction teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and help achieve sustainability goals on-site.
The position is based at the project site, with a rotation schedule of 14 days on and 7 days off.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Collaborating with the Environmental and Construction Management Teams to provide expertise on environmental programs.
- Translating environmental and sustainability goals into actionable plans.
- Assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of an Environmental and Social Management System.
- Supporting environmental training programs and promoting employee awareness of environmental aspects and impacts.
- Ensuring the implementation of environmental protection plans, waste management plans, and other key environmental programs.
- Tracking compliance with regulatory obligations, conditions of authorization, and environmental KPIs.
- Advising on environmental standards, legislation, and policies.
- Liaising with government officials, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
- Facilitating site inspections and coordinating with regulatory agency personnel.
- Preparing reports for regulatory authorities and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Supporting Environmental Effects Monitoring (EEM) programs.
- Conducting environmental audits/inspections, issuing corrective actions, and collaborating with teams to implement improvements.
- Assisting with environmental incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Promoting a safe working environment by adhering to procedures and regulations.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5 to 10 years of related environmental experience.
- Experience in a remote construction or operational setting on a rotational basis is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal and provincial environmental legislation.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to manage competing priorities and thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Strong planning, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated leadership in health, safety, and environmental protection.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management software.
- Valid driver’s license and driver’s abstract.
