Water Program Summer Placement Position
Circuit Rider Training Program
First Nations Technical Advisory Group (TSAG) is seeking two motivated Indigenous youth for summer placement opportunities within our Circuit Rider Training Program (CRTP). This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting critical water and wastewater infrastructure in Alberta First Nations communities while working alongside a highly skilled and purpose-driven team.
This full-time, term position runs from May 1, 2026, to August 15, 2026, with working hours of Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. The role includes regular travel across Alberta and meaningful engagement with First Nations communities.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Circuit Rider Team Lead, the Water Program Summer Placement will play a key role in advancing TSAG’s asset management and infrastructure documentation efforts.
Successful candidates will utilize specialized, in-house technology to capture and develop high-quality, photorealistic, and dimensionally accurate 3D models of water and wastewater infrastructure systems across participating Alberta First Nations.
This position offers a dynamic work environment, with travel Monday through Thursday and administrative/reporting duties in the office on Fridays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate advanced in-house equipment to capture and generate 3D models of water and wastewater infrastructure
- Upload, manage, and transfer collected data to TSAG’s internal systems with accuracy and efficiency
- Collaborate with Circuit Rider Trainers (CRTs) to coordinate technical site visits
- Engage directly with participating First Nations communities to schedule and support data collection activities
- Ensure all work is completed in alignment with TSAG standards, timelines, and community protocols
- Contribute to a respectful, professional, and culturally aware working environment
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution (preferred fields: engineering, environmental sciences, GIS, technology, or related disciplines)
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation, current registration, insurance, and a clean driver’s abstract
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and strong computer skills
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Alberta and work in diverse community settings
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in infrastructure, water systems, or community-based technical services is considered an asset
