- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a willingness to travel as needed.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in environmental permitting within the mining sector, demonstrating a thorough understanding of British Columbia's regulatory landscape.
- Proven expertise in leading projects, managing consultants, and working collaboratively with operational, engineering, and environmental teams to achieve goals, manage risks, and ensure compliance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, paired with effective communication and negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, Projects, SharePoint, PowerPoint, etc.
- Experience with environmental aspects of the mining industry, such as water quality, air quality, environmental effects monitoring, permitting, regulatory liaison, and consultation with stakeholders and First Nations.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, First Nations, and other stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation relevant to mining in BC, including the BC Mines Act, BC Environmental Management Act, Federal Fisheries Act, Federal Species at Risk Act, and BC Wildlife Act.
- Strong communication skills, with an emphasis on technical writing and presentation abilities, capable of conveying complex technical information in clear, understandable terms for various audiences.
- Advanced project management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead projects efficiently from conception through completion, ensuring timely and on-budget delivery.
- Ability to engage and gain cooperation from stakeholders through effective discussion and negotiation, facilitating consensus and collaborative problem-solving.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, capable of interpreting relevant legislation, identifying necessary changes, and implementing best practices in environmental management and compliance.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a keen attention to detail and a conscientious dedication to maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating productivity and effectiveness as both a team member and in engagements with external communities, including regulatory agencies and Indigenous groups.
- Competence in prioritizing tasks based on deadlines and managing competing priorities effectively, ensuring smooth operation and compliance with all project timelines.
- Experience with data management and utilization of relevant software, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in reporting and compliance monitoring.
- A strong ethical foundation, with a commitment to promoting a safe, sustainable, and environmentally responsible culture within the organization.
Conuma Resources takes pride in providing industry-competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package that truly values our employees. Specifically for the Permitting Coordinator role, we offer an annual base salary range of $88,000.00 - $109,000.00, along with a variety of bonuses. These bonuses include monthly efficiency bonuses linked to safety and production, quarterly retention bonuses, and a performance bonus tailored to reward your contributions. Our benefits package also includes paid vacation and personal days, 7% RRSP matching, and 100% employer-paid extended health and dental care, among other valuable perks.
