About the role
As the Senior Geologist Resource Definition, you will be responsible for the safety leadership, project supervision, and exploration budget. You will oversee and lead in the strategic conversion and update to existing gold resources of the Red Lake Operation. It will involve the management, collection, and interpretation of data from geological mapping, drilling, structural and geochemical data. This is a new role.
The position will be on an 5/2/4/3 (9.5 – hour day) roster and will be based residentially in Red Lake, Ontario.
We offer a competitive salary, bonus structure and future growth. The compensation range for this role is $140,000 to $177,000 CAD.
Key result areas in this role include:
Take on a role supervising Resource Definition activity within the exploration team, providing expertise in the practical application of software, drill target generation, geologic interpretation, cost tracking/monitoring and contractor management
Develop and deliver strategic exploration plans and budget to contribute reserves and resources to the life of mine production profile at the Red Lake Gold Operation
Oversee that the QA/QC practices and processes pertaining to your project or area adhere to industry exploration best practices and are JORC compliant
Liaise with mine geology, resource geology, engineering, operations and contractors fostering good communication and teamwork
Deliver monthly, reports on drilling and resource definition activities
Coordinate detailed exploration budget using cross sections, 3D models, engineering input, cost estimates, etc
Prioritize exploration targets in your area and rank them to be compared against others within the resource pipeline
Provide safety leadership for the department, providing motivation, empowerment, and trust
Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation, and commitment to satisfy our operations goal of being accident free
Minimize company risk exposure and liabilities by monitoring activities to ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory and licensing requirements
Identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement for the team
Demonstrate behaviours aligned with the Evolution Mining values
Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements
Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned
About you
As the Senior Geologist Resource Definition, you should have a BSc in Geology or Earth Science and the ability to acquire a Professional Status in Ontario (P'Geo). It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
At least 5 years work experience supporting geology and exploration activities
Experience in orogenic styles of mineralization is expected
Experience with managing drilling contractors, drill scheduling and logistics coordinating multiple underground drill rigs
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Leapfrog software
Knowledge of exploration standards and regulations
Underground mine geology experience is desirable
Ambitious self-discipline, motivation and regulation
Superior attention to detail, methodical and thorough in approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent Problem solving capabilities
Background in IoGas, Deswik or Acquire would be an advantage
