Position Title: Senior Environmental Coordinator (Fly-in/Fly-out)
Salary Range: $60/hr + Over-time ($70/hr)
We are on the hunt for an experienced Senior Environmental Coordinator for a Contract role at a state of the art Mine Facility located in the Far North (Yukon). This is a fly-in, fly-out facility, which is normally a 2 week on, 2 week off rotation. The Senior Environmental Coordinator oversees environmental monitoring, compliance, and reporting while supporting site activities and environmental projects. The role requires relevant experience and technical expertise, with a start date as soon as possible. Pay is $60/hr plus overtime after 8 hours per day (which works out to $70.00/hr for a 12 hour day), regular rotation is 12 hours per day x 14 days. Flights paid. It is camp facilities.

Main Accountabilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Environmental Coordinator will include overseeing:
- Coordinate and conduct a variety of environmental sampling, documenting and reporting to fulfill regulatory and management plan requirements
- Support and/or lead inspections with regulatory agencies and the First Nation of Na-cho Nyak Dun
- Participate in regular site planning, update meetings
- Monitor construction activities, erosion and sediment control practices, waste management, and environmental incidents and responses
- Oversee and carry out maintenance of environmental monitoring equipment
- Assist with the planning, development, and implementation of environmental projects as required
- Assist with record keeping, report review, data analysis and regulatory reports as neededParticipate in site-specific training and adherence to company health and safety and environmental policies
Main Qualifications:
- At least five years of experience with construction management and/or environmental monitoring, preferably in a northern location for a mining operation
- Technical Diploma or Degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, environmental engineering or related field
- Project and coordination experience, including three years of progressively responsible experience in a supervisory capacity
- Strong computer skills; knowledge of ArcGIS and database management is considered an asset.
- Experience with the implementation of erosion and sediment control best management practices, air quality and water quality sampling procedures, groundwater level measurement methods, streamflow gauging techniques and conducting snow surveys; experience with soil/vegetation, sediment/benthics sampling and fish monitoring is a plus
- Mining construction or operations experience is considered an asset; knowledge and experience with hydrocarbon spill response is a plus
- Experience working in adverse weather conditions (e.g., rain, snow, cold winter temperatures typical of central Yukon); experience in remote camp conditions is an asset
- Cross-cultural awareness with an understanding and sensitivity of the challenges associated with differences in cultural and economic backgrounds
- Attention to detail, good writing skillsClass 5 driver’s license; experience driving in difficult terrain with 4WD and as a snowmobile operator is a plus
