JOB DESCRIPTION:
HR Project Partners is currently accepting resumes for a Project Geologist, Exploration on behalf of our client, Equinox Gold, Valentine Gold Mine. The ideal candidate would have 5 years experience in a mining and/or exploration setting.
Reporting to the Senior Exploration Geologist, the Project Geologist, Exploration is responsible for ensuring the work of the Exploration department is planned and executed in a safe and effective manner. The successful candidate will perform duties including but not limited to program planning execution, contractor and employee oversight, data interpretation and management, and field work.
This position is located at the Project site, working on a 2 week in/2 week out rotation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environment through personal behaviours and conversations.
- Establish and promote a respectful and healthy work environment.
- Promote a proactive approach of continuous improvement by reporting all Health, Safety and Environment incidents and communicate solutions.
- Provide on-site supervision and training for the Exploration department.
- Supervise on site contractors.
- Conduct incident investigations.
- Develop and implement schedules and workflows to ensure a safe and effective workplace.
- Short term (weekly to monthly) planning and execution of exploration programs including drilling, mapping, trenching, prospecting, geophysics, and geochemistry.
- Technical oversight of various exploration programs across the project.
- Data management and interpretation with the goal of developing geological understanding and assessing potential new targets.
- Assist with implementation of new technologies, methodologies, and procedures.
- Support the development and implementation of technical studies, reports and programs.
- Monitor progress across the department to ensure goals are met on time and on budget.
- Daily QAQC of geological and geotechnical data.
- Review and approve of drill shift reports in CorePlan platform.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with other team members, stakeholders, and departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- BSc. in Geology, Earth Sciences or a related field.
- Registered or eligible to be registered as a P.Geo.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a mining and/or exploration setting
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ATTRIBUTES:
- Strong ability to work cooperatively within a team environment.
- Self-motivated and able to complete work with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
- Team-oriented but individually driven to produce results.
- Skilled with all aspects of Microsoft 365.
- Proficient in the use of specialized software and techniques relating to the mineral exploration industry (Acquire, Leapfrog, QGIS, ArcGIS, etc.).
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- The ability to manage heavy physical work, which is defined as maximal lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 55lbs.
- A valid driver’s license and drivers abstract.
