SEM is currently seeking a full-time Junior Environmental Scientist.

The Junior Environmental Scientist will support the SEM team in completing project-based work for a variety of clients. This position will be based at our office in St. John’s, NL.

Responsibilities

Environmental data organization and analysis
Desktop review and interpretation of scientific literature and regulatory framework
Participation in planning and execution of baseline studies
Support data compilation and calculation exercises for climate change projects
Technical report writing in a wide range of environmental specialities including, but not limited to, atmospheric science, noise, contaminated sites monitoring, water quality, environmental protection; interest to learn and perform tasks outside of area of skills and studies considered an asset.
Collaborate with a team of subject matter experts to deliver high-quality environmental services to meet deadlines

Requirements

Post-secondary education in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related field of study; completion of a thesis-based program considered an asset
1-3 years of relevant experience; consulting experience considered an asset
Writing experience is a must; a writing sample will be required for interview candidate
Willingness to work independently as well as in a team environment
Keen learner with organizational skills and attention to details
Positive attitude with strong communication and problem-solving skills
