Role Description The Environmental Technician position is a full-time position based in Sault Ste. Marie, ON with day and over-night travel required periodically. The role involves field work, including site inspections, surveys and monitoring as well as office work such as data entry, analysis, and preparation of technical reports and project documentation. You will be a critical contributor during the delivery of assignments including: environmental compliance monitoring and reporting; designated substances evaluations; hydrogeological assessments; Municipal Class Environmental Assessments; environmental audits; etc. You will work as part of a team of environmental scientists, engineers and technicians.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Environmental Services, including experience supporting environmental assessments or monitoring programs.
- Understanding of Groundwater and Soil sampling, testing, and data collection methods, with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Effective Communication skills, including clear written reporting, professional email and phone communication, and teamwork with multidisciplinary staff.
- Diploma or degree in environmental science, environmental engineering technology, geology, or a related field.
- Ability to work safely in field environments, including varying weather conditions, and willingness to travel to project sites within Northern Ontario.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and willingness to learn specialized environmental or engineering software.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; familiarity with local or provincial environmental regulations is an asset.
