Environmental Scientist

This position will be part of a multidisciplinary team of Environmental and Geoscience professionals tasked with developing and managing programs that support all aspects of the mine life-cycle. This position provides good opportunities for professional growth through exposure to a wide variety of technical programs. We are looking for a curious, dedicated person who is interested in continuous development with safety and the environment in mind.
Responsibilities include:
Development and implementation of technical programs in areas such as:
o Environmental Monitoring and Supplementary Studies (including groundwater, surface water, soil, vegetation, wildlife, aquatic ecosystems, and air quality)
o Environmental Risk and Impact Assessments
o Biodiversity Surveys and Habitat Assessment
o Environmental Data Management
o Progressive Reclamation Programs
o Environmental Compliance and Management Systems
· Assist in the preparation and communication of a variety of technical and regulatory documents for intended audiences including internal circulation, regulatory review, and rightsholders communication
· Assist in the co-ordination and execution of technical field programs
· Develop a sound knowledge of the company’s operations and the technical requirements imposed by legislation and various permits and licenses
· Remain informed on technical advancements in environmental management and science practices as they relate to Orano Canada’s sites
· Promote and support Operational Excellence and OE culture
· Comply with all Orano health, safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures

Skills and Qualifications we’re seeking:
· University degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, toxicology, or relevant discipline; M.Sc. or Ph.D. is an asset)
· 3 to 5 years of experience in planning and conducting technical environmental programs and sampling (water, soil, sediment, vegetation, and wildlife) in remote areas and industrial sites
· Demonstrated skills in environmental data analysis and preparation of technical reports
· Eligible for or holding a relevant professional designation or accreditation (e.g., P.Biol., P.Ag., EP) is an asset
· Demonstrated problem solving, planning, and organizational skills
· Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
· Valid Class 5 driver's license
· Comfortable travelling to remote field sites
· Ability to lead and actively participate in a team environment, as well as work independently
· Ability to foster and maintain good working relationships with peers, other departments and consultants in a diverse, multi-disciplinary project team
Work Location & Schedule:
· Saskatoon Corporate Office with travel to McClean Lake Site as required
· 8 hours/day; 40 hours/week
Salary Range:
$88,140 - $112,700
Compensation to be determined based on the selected candidate’s level of skill, education, and experience, and may vary within the posted salary range.
