AET Group is currently seeking an experienced Environmental Technician (Junior Project Manager, Waste Services) to join our team in a hands-on technical and project support role with field leadership responsibilities. This is a full-time, permanent role.
The salary for this position is $72,150.00.

The Junior Project Manager supports the Waste Audit Manager, Manager of Waste analytics and Development and the Senior Project Manager of Waste Services in actively participating in various types of work done by AET’s Waste Services team, including providing technical waste auditing and consulting services, project and staff coordination, and supporting business development activities as required. The successful candidate won't shy away from hard work and is excited for the opportunity to travel, both within the province, and across Canada. The successful candidate must be available to travel regularly for conducting waste studies. This is a field focused position, with approximately 60-70% of the role involving field-based work and the remainder focused on reporting, data analysis and project coordination. The travel may require overnight stays for 1–2-week periods.
You will have the opportunity to contribute to our growth, working on diverse waste projects across Canada, including municipal and ICI waste studies and reduction strategies, material recovery facility commissioning, optimization and quality studies, litter studies, food waste studies, EPR, Circular Economy, and waste reduction planning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of waste audit, waste diversion, and consulting projects from mobilization through completion and final reporting.
- Coordinate and oversee day-to-day project activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, logistics, and project documentation.
- Supervise and provide direction to Waste Team Leads and Waste Auditors to ensure efficient project execution and high-quality deliverables.
- Lead and participate in fieldwork activities for municipal, industrial, commercial, and institutional waste studies, landfill studies, material recovery facility (MRF) studies, litter studies, and related projects.
- Support and coordinate waste characterization studies, including sample collection, sorting, auditing, and analysis to determine the composition of garbage, recycling, and organic waste streams.
- Collect, validate, analyze, and maintain project data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
- Prepare technical summaries, project reports, presentations, and other client deliverables.
- Serve as a liaison between clients, Project Managers, and field staff, building and maintaining positive client relationships.
- Support business development activities, including assisting with proposal preparation as required.
- Lead, train, mentor, and support field teams to ensure project objectives, quality standards, and safety requirements are met.
- Monitor compliance with company policies, health and safety procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Other duties as requested from time to time.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of previous experience managing waste-related projects and small teams.
- Degree or Diploma in Environmental Studies or a related field with previous experience and knowledge in waste/recycling audits.
- Certified Environmental Professional (EP) with waste specialization is preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
- MS Excel, Word, and Projects knowledge and use is required. Strong data analysis and reporting skills required.
- Driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract and access to a vehicle is required; being comfortable driving a pickup truck and pulling a cargo trailer is required.
- Must possess excellent oral, written, organizational and multi-tasking skills.

Physical Capabilities:
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk.

- PPE requirements: half-mask respirator/mask, safety glasses, gloves, hard hat, safety footwear, coveralls, reflective vest – all provided by AET.
