Field Technician

The South Eastern New Brunswick Forest Products Marketing Board was legally established on October 15, 1981 under the Farm Products Marketing Act, with the following purpose:

To promote and negotiate better terms of sale and develop new markets for all tree species within SENB area.
To encourage the production and marketing of high-quality primary forest products.
To encourage and promote good woodlot management practices.
To cooperate with other local and provincial boards in the province and elsewhere in marketing primary forest products.
To encourage continued private woodlot ownership.

About the Job

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Forest Technician to support field and office forestry operations. This role involves data collection, forest inventory, assisting with silviculture programs, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.

The key activities of this role are:

Conduct forest inventory and collect field data (tree species, height, density, health)
Support silviculture activities such as tree planting, site preparation, and surveys
Operate GPS, GIS, and data collection equipment
Monitor forest health, pests, and disease conditions
Ensure compliance with forestry regulations and environmental standards
Prepare reports and maintain accurate records
Work safely in remote outdoor environments in varying weather conditions

As the ideal candidate:

Diploma or degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field
Three to five years’ experience would be considered an asset.
Experience in forestry fieldwork
Knowledge of forest measurement techniques and species identification
Familiarity with GPS, GIS, and mapping software
Strong physical fitness and ability to work outdoors
Valid driver’s license
First Aid certification (an asset)
Bilingual would be an asset
