Job Summary:
The EHS Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining environmental, health, and safety standards across hydroelectric power projects. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, promotes a strong safety culture, and supports safe execution of construction, commissioning, and operational activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies and procedures for hydro power projects
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental laws, and safety standards
- Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety audits
- Monitor site activities to ensure safe work practices during construction and maintenance
- Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
- Promote environmental protection practices including waste management and water conservation
- Deliver EHS training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and regulatory authorities
- Maintain EHS documentation, reports, and compliance records
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Environmental, Mechanical, Civil, or related field)
- 3–10 years of EHS experience in hydro power, infrastructure, or heavy industry
- Knowledge of EHS regulations, ISO standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
- Strong understanding of construction and site safety practices
- Certification in NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent preferred
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
