The Opportunity
LEGACY is seeking a highly organized and detail oriented Environmental Impact Assessment Specialist, based in the Lower Mainland, to support our British Columbia operations. The successful candidate will bring strong experience in environmental impact assessment, permitting, information management, and project and team coordination to support and help lead federal and provincial regulatory processes, particularly environmental impact assessment. Experience and knowledge of the human, physical, or biological environment - and how projects interact with these elements - is an added asset.

Responsibilities
As an Environmental Impact Assessment Specialist within the Environmental Impact Assessment Practice, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality technical reports and regulatory submissions.
- Designing, preparing, or reviewing regulatory submissions and technical reports, including environmental impact assessments and permit applications.
- Providing regulatory and environmental impact assessment guidance to team members and clients.
- Liaising with regulatory agencies regarding regulatory processes.
- Supporting clients during the planning, execution and management of projects.
- Managing projects, including scope, schedule, budget tracking, and invoicing.
- Supporting strategy development for the Environmental Impact Assessment Practice
- Identifying and supporting new business opportunities, including preparing proposals and supporting business development activities.
- Mentoring and supporting staff in their, and your, growth.
- Applying critical thinking and problem-solving to support effective project delivery.
- Implementing health, safety, and quality management policies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in biology, ecology, engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience in consulting or a related field.
- Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Highly motivated and willing to take ownership of tasks, while remaining flexible and able to adapt to dynamic project priorities and timelines.
- Strong working knowledge of British Columbia and federal environmental assessment legislation and regulatory permitting processes.
- Project management experience, including training or demonstrated experience.
- Experience supporting and managing environmental regulatory processes within consulting, government, or industry settings, including building teams for project delivery.
- Experience contributing to environmental impact assessments or similar regulatory processes
- Experience in social, human, physical, or biological effects assessment is an asset.
- Experience developing mitigation or environmental management strategies is an asset
