Who We Are
PhotoSat is a Vancouver-based technology company delivering satellite-based elevation surveying and alteration mineral mapping to the mining and exploration industry. Our clients include mining companies, exploration firms, resource development companies, and engineering consultants. Our products are genuinely differentiated: we combine multi-spectral satellite imagery with spectral matching and deep learning to produce alteration mapping products.
Your Role
We are looking for a junior field-experienced geologist to join our Production Team as a Geology Analyst. Reporting to the Head of Production, you will work closely with Data Analysts, Geologists, and Customer Solution Managers to produce and deliver PhotoSat's alteration mineral mapping products.
What You Bring
- Technical foundation. A BSc in Geology with coursework focused on ore deposits and a solid understanding of major economic deposit types.
- Knowledge Asset. Familiarity with alteration patterns, zonation, and their field occurrence; working knowledge of common alteration minerals, rock types, and spectral data.
- Field experience. Hands-on field mapping experience in the Cordilleras and an understanding of how exploration geologists work and what data they need.
- Organization and follow-through. You manage deadlines reliably, document your work, and treat each project as an opportunity to improve on the last.
- Clear communication. You write concise, professional emails and show up to Teams calls and live presentations with confidence and collegial energy.
- Attention to detail. You follow established procedures, deliver consistent output, and take quality seriously from project to project.
- Analytical mindset. You enjoy dissecting problems and finding better solutions.
What You Will Do
- Produce alteration mineral maps from multi- and hyper- spectral satellite imagery as your primary responsibility.
- Improve our processes — develop new procedures, raise product quality, and find ways to shorten production timelines.
- Stay current by attending industry conferences (AME, PDAC, SEG) and keeping up with journals, courses, and webinars.
- Contribute your ideas in daily, weekly, and monthly team meetings — your input will directly shape how the Production Team operates and where PhotoSat goes next.
- Support elevation surveys, assisting the Production Team with optical satellite imagery processing as needed.
