Overview
The Project Geologist / Senior Project Geologist is responsible for the planning, execution, and interpretation of early-stage mineral exploration programs. The role focuses on greenfields exploration, including geological mapping, surficial geochemistry programs, drill targeting, and technical evaluation of exploration targets.
The position manages field crews and contractors while ensuring exploration programs are conducted safely, efficiently, and to high technical standards.
Exploration Program Planning and Execution
- Plan, implement, and manage greenfields exploration programs, including soil, till, and rock geochemical surveys.
- Design surficial geochemistry sampling programs, including grid design, QAQC protocols, and interpretation of results.
- Conduct and supervise prospecting and geological mapping programs to define lithological, structural, and alteration controls on mineralization.
- Generate and refine exploration targets through integration of geological, geochemical, and geophysical datasets.
- Develop drill targets and assist in planning and supervising diamond drilling programs.
Field Operations Management
- Ensure field programs meet health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Train and mentor junior geologists and field technicians.
Geological Data Collection and Interpretation
- Perform detailed core logging, including lithology, alteration, structure, and mineralization.
- Oversee sample management, QAQC procedures, and data validation.
- Compile, interpret, and integrate geological datasets to support target generation.
- Produce maps, cross sections, and technical reports summarizing exploration results.
Reporting and Communication
- Prepare technical reports, exploration updates, and presentations for management.
- Communicate exploration results and recommendations to senior management.
Pay: $100,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
