RREC is currently seeking a Groundwater Technician based out of either our Rocky Mountain House or Vermilion offices, with consideration given to candidates working remotely.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct fieldwork including groundwater monitoring, sampling, installation of monitoring wells, and support with Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessments, Detailed Site Assessments, Remediation and Reclamation activities
- Perform in-situ hydraulic conductivity testing (i.e. slug test, pump tests) on groundwater monitoring wells.
- Perform field data collection, logging and documentation in accordance with RREC and regulatory standards
- Assist in developing and maintaining groundwater databases, perform data entry, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and data visualization.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate field equipment.
- Assist with the coordination of subcontractors.
- Interpret hydrogeological and environmental data under the direction of senior professionals.
- Complete technical reports and report components, as specified.
- Conduct and document daily safety meetings, ensuring safe work practices are adhered to.
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in an environmental or geoscience discipline from a recognized university or college
- 3-5 years experience in oil and gas environmental consulting, including conducting groundwater assessments
- Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
- Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Self-motivated, disciplined and eager to learn
- Experience with groundwater data management or visualization software
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and travel to field sites as required.
