Requirements
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Completion of assigned work orders.
- Locating of the water distribution system, wastewater collection system, and storm sewer collection system including services.
- Inspect, maintain, repair, and install water distribution system, service lines, and water meters.
- Inspect, maintain, repair, and install wastewater mains and service lines.
- Inspect, maintain, repair, and install storm sewer mainlines, laterals, and/or connections.
- Commissioning of new water mains.
- Operation of heavy equipment and hand tools.
- Maintain log book.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ontario Grade 12 Graduation Diploma or equivalent
- Must possess the ability to obtain an Operator in Training Water Distribution Certificate within the first 90 days in the classification, and then work towards obtaining and maintaining a valid Water Distribution Certificate as regulated by the Ministry of the Environment, currently Class 1 - preference shall be provided to individuals already possessing the requisite licensing
- Must possess the ability to obtain an Operator in Training Wastewater Collection License within the first 90 days in the classification, and then work towards obtaining and maintaining a valid Wastewater Collection License as regulated by the Ministry of the Environment, currently Class 2 - preference shall be provided to individuals already possessing the requisite licensing
- Minimum of five (5) years previous related experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Hold and maintain a valid Class "AZ" driver's license
Qualifications Considered Assets
- Previous experience reading blueprints
- Valid Wastewater Collection License
- Valid Water Distribution License
Working Conditions
- Duties shall be performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, and also within resident dwellings
- Manual dexterity to operate heavy equipment, use hand tools, water testing equipment, tapping machine, desktop computer, peripherals, etc.
- Safety equipment as required (i.e., safety shoes, glasses/goggles, gloves, hearing protection, etc.)
- Travel within the Town
- Operation of various motor vehicles
Hours of Work
- Primary hours of work are Monday to Friday (40 hours), day shift, with overtimes as required
Physical Requirements
- Physical work environment requiring extended periods of walking, standing, crouching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and sitting
