Join our growing Ontario Water Resources team and help deliver projects that improve the way communities understand, manage, and live with water. From floodplain mapping and hydraulic modelling to river restoration, erosion mitigation, stormwater management, and climate resilience, you'll work on projects that protect infrastructure, reduce flood risk, and enhance aquatic ecosystems across Ontario.
We are looking for an innovative and motivated Water Resources Analyst who is excited to be part of a team crafting sustainable, lasting solutions for real-world water resources challenges. If you enjoy problem-solving, take pride in your work, and are committed to delivering high-quality solutions four our clients, this role is perfect for you. Here, you’ll have the chance to shape your world and contribute to environmentally responsible practices – all while building a career in a company that values your growth.
The Company
We are a 100% employee-owned, Canadian, consulting engineering firm, but we are also more than that. Our diverse crew includes engineers, geoscientists, technologists, biologists, agrologists, planners, scientists, and more. We began in 1975 and work together in an environment that empowers us to think differently about real-world problems. We want to work with those who, like us, take pride in creating innovative solutions that push the boundaries of conventional practices.
In addition, we seek opportunities for continuous improvement in our work and support those who have a passion for excellence. At KWL, we care about each other and strive to create a fun, open and engaging environment that leverages our individual strengths and encourages vibrant discussion.
What You’ll Do
- Hydraulic and Hydrologic Modelling: Perform hydraulic and hydrologic analyses using tools such as HEC-RAS (1D/2D), SWMM-based software, GIS environments, and other relevant software to evaluate river stability, floodplain inundation, and aquatic habitat suitability.
- Floodplain Mapping & Risk Assessment: Prepare floodplain maps and complete flood and erosion hazard assessments to support municipal planning, infrastructure design, and watershed management.
- River Restoration: Support the planning and design of river restoration, bank stabilization, erosion protection, fish habitat enhancement, bioengineering, and hazard mitigation projects.
- Engineering Support: Prepare engineering cost estimates, specifications, tender documents, and collaborate with CAD technicians to produce design drawings.
- Field Data Collection: Conduct field assessments and RTK GPS surveys to support floodplain mapping, river restoration, and geomorphic assessments.
- Construction Monitoring: Support construction observation and post-construction monitoring for water resources projects to ensure compliance and success.
- Climate Impact Assessment: Analyze the effects of climate change on engineering presentations, and supporting materials for clients, regulators, and project stakeholders.
- Technical Reporting: Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, and presentations for stakeholders.
- Proposal Development: Assist with preparing project scopes, schedules, and engineering cost estimates to support proposal submissions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, geomorphologists, biologists, ecologists, GIS specialists, and environmental scientists to deliver practical, innovative water resources solutions.
