We are currently seeking a motivated Intermediate Environmental Engineer to join our growing Environmental Services team. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of environmental assessment, excess soil management, and remediation projects while collaborating with experienced environmental professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to Phase One and Two Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Delineation and Remediation.
- Review historical records, environmental reports, figures, and tables.
- Plan and execute Excess Soil Management Program in a variety of public and private sector projects.
- Work with Project Managers to plan and schedule fieldwork activities.
- Conduct field investigations and oversee drilling operations.
- Collect soil and groundwater samples.
- Review and interpret laboratory analytical results.
- Prepare reports, tables, borehole logs, cross-sections, and AutoCAD figures.
- Ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and all applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines.
- Apply strong knowledge of health and safety protocols.
- Maintain clear, comprehensive, and accurate field notes.
- Complete and document work tasks efficiently and accurately in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare technical proposals and reports.
- Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Support Project Managers, Senior Environmental Specialists, and Hydrogeologists in preparing technical reports.
Qualifications
· Minimum 3 years of relevant consulting experience in environmental engineering within Ontario.
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental engineering, Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
· Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO); P.Eng. designation is considered a strong asset.
· Demonstrated experience conducting Phase One and Phase Two ESAs, environmental sampling, site investigations, delineation, and remediation projects.
· Experience preparing and implementing Excess Soil Management Plans under Ontario Regulation 406/19 is highly desirable.
· Strong understanding of Ontario environmental legislation, including:
- Ontario Regulation 153/04 (Records of Site Condition)
- Ontario Regulation 406/19 (Excess Soil)
- MECP guidelines and applicable CSA standards
· Experience interpreting laboratory analytical data and preparing technical environmental reports.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
· Working knowledge of AutoCAD; experience with GIS software is considered an asset.
· Excellent report writing, technical documentation, and communication skills.
· Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment.
· Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence with access to a reliable vehicle and willingness to travel to project sites throughout Ontario.
· Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
