Overview:
We are looking for a Sustainability Analyst to join our team, reporting to the Director Sustainability and Community Investment. If you are a self-motivated individual who thrives on collaboration and is eager to expand your expertise and contribute to various sustainability-led projects, this role is an exciting opportunity for you.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the Sustainability Strategy: Collaborate with the Director, Sustainability, and other teams to implement various sustainability initiatives (i.e., annual Sustainability Reporting and employee engagement campaigns).
- ESG Data Collection and Assurance: Lead in ESG data collection, ensuring data quality and completeness for reporting. Manage all sustainability-related datasets, KPI tracking, and progress towards sustainability goals.
- Participate in third-party ESG data assurance processes to ensure accuracy and transparency of data.
- Execute tasks such as obtaining energy, waste, water from each site and working with third-party consultant to ensuring accuracy and completeness for customer requests and external reporting purposes.
- Prepare data for the annual Sustainability Report.
- Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Accounting: Lead the annual carbon footprinting exercise for internal and external reporting by working with the external consultant firm.
- Synthesize data analysis into key messages for relevant audiences.
- Ensure Burnbrae is disclosing ESG activities in a manner consistent with industry leadership.
- Analyze customer sustainability requirements and disclosure requests. Work with the business to provide data to complete audits/surveys and improve the data collection process.
- Provide project management support on Burnbrae’s sustainability initiatives.
- Conduct research and analysis on sustainability topics.
- Develop metrics and KPIs to measure outcomes against internal objectives and external benchmarks.
- Track and report on the progress of sustainability initiatives.
- Support the Director of CSR in delivering the CSR strategy and key goals while advancing reporting and disclosure activities to meet customer requests and deliver on best practices.
- Lead in the planning and execution of employee community investment activities throughout the year.
- Assist in donation and volunteer grant tracking.
- Update annual benchmarks by monitoring evolving global responsibility best practices and industry standards.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in the ESG/Sustainability space (2 years minimum).
- Education: A degree in finance/accounting, environmental science/studies, sustainability, Business or a related field.
- Familiarity with energy data collection systems and/or ESG data software.
- Proven experience in analyzing and manipulating large data sets.
- Technical proficiency with sustainability benchmarks, standards, and frameworks such as CDP Project management skills are preferred.
- Ability to take initiative and enthusiastically lead, coordinate, and attend events and activities.
- Well-organized and self-motivated, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and tight deadlines independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills for data collection and reporting challenges.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to build rapport with colleagues and achieve outcomes through influence.
- Positive attitude and a passion for ESG initiatives and a commitment to driving performance improvement in sustainability practices.
- Some travel within Ontario may be required. Own vehicle is strongly preferred.
