Role Description The Environmental Lands Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Ottawa, ON. This position involves conducting site inspections, environmental assessments, and sampling related to soil, water, air, and building materials. The Environmental Lands Technician will prepare technical reports, support remediation plans, and assist with hazardous materials surveys, including asbestos, lead, silica, and mould. Daily responsibilities include interpreting regulatory requirements, advising clients on environmental compliance, and collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders. The role also requires maintaining accurate project documentation, supporting environmental impact studies, and promoting safe work practices in accordance with environmental health and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Environmental Science, with the ability to apply scientific principles to real property and building-related projects.
- Knowledge of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) practices, including occupational hygiene and safe handling of hazardous materials.
- Experience with Environmental Compliance and familiarity with relevant Environmental Policy and regulations in Ontario.
- Effective Communication skills, including clear report writing, client communication, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Hygiene, or a related field.
- Previous experience in environmental consulting, remediation, or hazardous materials assessment is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and sound judgment in field and office work.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally for site visits.
